I'm guessing around the $350 price point. this lens was designed to naturally complement the new 18-55 IS. This is definately a lower end consumer telephoto lens. If so then they should in theory be much better, UD elements, spectra coatings etc etc.. they also look more modern & better built than the kit lenses, although still no focus ring, apart from that little thing at the end of the lens :-p now you got it. canon is getting its butt kicked in the entry level. prices (and quality) are coming down http://instagram.com/edraderphotography/
