yes a lens hood was used in these shots, and like i mentioned before, no other filters were used on the lens at that time. the shot was just resized and brightened to show the smudges.

there were a few street lamps around me. and i highly doubt it is sensor dust since this was just shot at f8 and the rest of the pictures do not exhibit anything like this.

Harder at night to see flare/reflections until you take the (long exposure) shot..

i think its dust, some may be bigger or darker than others and are showing up. shoot the sky @ F22 and you will see it. i just had the same thing, it was showing up at f8 for me as well, on my photos.

Notice its an 8 second exposure.....more then likely all flares I think. Hard to say what from because it could have been anything. However, these blotches are on a black background. Easy to PP out;)

I wouldn't think this would be like a regular, repeated thing: the flares are probably reflections from something that was going on around that specific area.

Upper right looks like a thumbprint. Remember ONLY TOUCH THE EDGES OF THE MEMORY CARD. Sheesh.

Question: did you ever use liquid to cleen the sensor? When I upped the contrast and brightness to about 90 each, it sure looks like liquid residue on the sensor. I don't think you could see it with the naked eye, though. Take several more shots to see if it's there. If not - - don't know --, cloud, flag in foreground, accidental moisture when changing lenses (dew), smoke from a cig?? Hope it doesn't stay around.

lol chazs, i cant say yes to anything you said :( however i might have a fingerprint on the memory card :P

ive never used any kind of solution to clean my sensor yet, and i havent had the need to. anyways, maybe it was just a freak of nature. as long as it doesnt come back, i wont take it too seriously.
