OK, what a wierd Title l have here!! :) Nevermind....

I just joined this forum today and am hunting for as much knowledge as possible on macro shots, especially extreme closeups of buggies/insects...whatever comes your way.

I know the MP-E 65mm the best solution out there but its just not affordable right now.

I have read quite a few posts about the reversed 50mm lens that provides a lot more magnification to the default lens.

Truly appreciate if you could post 1-3 images, close-up macros using a "reversed lens" setup anlong with details of the setup like in 50mm reversed, 100mm F2.0 Macro lens, any kenko tubes, flash, etc.

Thank you so much folks!!

Show 'em off!!!!!!!

Thanks,

Dodz

I've been having a little play with an old Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 I found laying around, reversed to the end of my 100mm f/2.8 macro. Although I prefer having a bit more distance from the subject, I was quite pleased with the way it worked.

Here's one of the better pics I took with 50mm reversed.

Using this setup certainly makes you appretiate just how much space you had before -- with it, my focus distance is like 2cm between the subject and the lens... gotta be careful not to squash the subject!

All the best,

Brian - Good to see you again.

Thanks so much. I am getting a better hang on what this setup is all about and it does move me in this direction. Need to do some quick costing now :)

Splended shots! IQ is superb as well. How far was the 500mm lens face from the subject?

Guessing the 50mm lens was about 1.5" (inches) from the subject- you end up having to tilt the camera up to get the bug in focus.
