I'm going to drop off my 30D/70-200L for calibration and to have the broken wheel on my BG-E2 repaired. Do I need to bring the original packaging or just hand it to them "as-is"- ie., not boxed.

No, you don't need the original packaging. AAMOF, they won't even want the batteries or the CF card so you can just keep them at home. Make sure you have the body cap, though, since they're going to keep the body and the lens separated and check them in as two separate items.

Went to the Canon NJ Service Center today and dropped off the camera and lens. I'm having them do a calibration and cleaning, which is free, and a repair on my BG-E2 grip wheel (it's stripped). I was surprised that they are charging me to fix the grip wheel- I told the girl at the counter it broke due to poor workmanship and not my error. She did not want to agree, but told me I can dispute the charge. I was actually thinking they were going to charge me for the calibration/cleaning and fix the wheel as part of the warranty work. Oh well. The counter girl was very nice and helpful- not to mention hot as hell.

i drive by that place everytime i go to my grand parents house haha

i had a problem where 2 screws came out of my lcd on my g6
called them up asked them to send me 2 screws, they wanted me to bring it in, i said its for 2 screws, there is no reason i should have to send it out to get 2 screws put in to have it mailed back to me, which i would prob loose 2 weeks of my unit on, so they said ok, and they mailed me out a container of 12 screws for free which i got within 24 hours

canon has great service in my opinion

When I was there a few months ago, the girl behind the desk actually mentioned to me that she reads on-line Canon discussion forums - hopefully she'll find this flattering. ;)

Yes, you're right. Exit 8 off of I-95. I'm even thinking it's 8A.
