Thanks for the looking and commenting everyone :)

Gordon - not sure what's going on with the wasps as both of these wasps looked to me as if they should have had wings. I couldn't really see any sign of them in the first wasp but the second one definitely had little vestigial wings. Spotted both late afternoon on my water barrels. You do get flightless wasps around this size but these just didn't look right.

RM - you were supposed to notice the springtail (a new one for me). I might be getting confused but I thought thrips were also called thunderflies that you posted a pic of recently ?

Bill - yes was using the MPE_65 around 3:1 to 5:1

Pete- as I mentioned the car macro season is just starting as where it is parked it has just started being shaded most of the day rather than in full sun (and very hot). Apart from that it hasn't exactly been sunny the last few days :)

How do you get all the shots of those really tiny guys?

I really need to get a better set up than just the 100mm macro. I keep seeing all these great critters in my house and can't get good enough lighting. Last night there was a wolf spider with spiderlings in my bathroom. I'm a little unnerved that I don't know where she is now, though. LOL

Nice shots!! The aphid is totally cool. :)

Hi, - these are all taken with an MPE-65 betwen 3:1 and 5:1 magnification. You'd need to get a set of ext tubes (Jessops or Kenko) to take your macro lens to 2:1 and then perhaps reverse a 50mm lens on the front to get to 4:1. You do need an external flash though when doing high mag pics.
