green hairstreak

I've been looking through my piccies as the missus is watching the football
here's one from June on Whixall moss
I was really pleased to see this one, a member here Dave directed me to the site and while I was looking for dragonflies by one of the ponds there a very nice chap pointed out this liittle guy.
Its the one and only time I've seen a Green Hairstreak I did not go to the Moss again as the weather was so poor I just went to local spots.
I plan to go next year to find Large Heath Butterflies

Lovely shot of yet another Butterfly I've never seen, talking of not seeing things there have been hardly any BF's in & around my garden this Yr or Moths, I'm wondering if it's got anything to do with the huge number of Wasps plus having a nest in wall at the bottom of my neighbours garden wall can't help ?

Thanks Mark I was thinking the same thing yesterday butterflies are thin on the ground this year,
maybee its the weather Im having to travel and search to find any butterflies
I planted a Buddlia this spring but have had very few in our garden disapointed really, I will plant some more flowers to attact them next year if I can make room we've only a small garden

Stunning butterfly Pete, that's one I've never seen before in the wild.

I got one of these at a place called Priddy Mineries in Somerset, England, earlier this year after hunting around for them for several weeks. People probably don't realise that these are small butterflies, about the size of a common blue, so this shot is doubly competent for that reason. WD Pete.
On butterfly numbers it depends on the species but the wet summer has definitely had a bad effect on the late emergences. Brown hairstreak is very rare this year.

thanks eccles this little guy let me get really close with the 105 macro was really pleased, as you said he was small. I will try to find more of these next year as they are a fantastic green colour hard to do it justice with a photo
