Trying again to do this... hopefully I'll have more success than my last attempts... I would welcome constructive criticism. Thanks! These were taken with my relatively new Macro lens--Canon EFS 60mm. My difficulties were finding subjects willing to pause long enough for me to get close and focus... Any tips??

Hi Michael Very nice shots esp the second love the detail in the wings
Butterflies can be tricky to approach one of the members advised me to wait till they are feeding on flowers this makes them easier to approach
I Creep up as steadily as I can without making sudden movements but I miss many more than I get :oops:

nice start there. i usually try to glue their legs down . don't worry i have the same problem. can't seem to get near them without scaring them off.

Pretty good .
Not sure how you were focusing, but for skittery bugs it can be useful to preset the magnification (focus) you want and then gradually move in with the lens. This assumes you were not using a tripod and not AF. This way you get a faster shot and you are not waving your hand around trying to focus the lens which will often scare off the bugs.
