Been shooting up on a hill, bit of this bit of that when this sub-adult Black-Chested Snake Eagle decided to come and have a look at what I was doing. Of course I was not ready, I was busy doing Macro work with a 100mm Macro lens on a FF body, not the ideal set up for shooting BIF. Cropped tight to fit on websize.

Nice shot, and why not? Most macro lenses are very fine, with the added benefit of being very fast. I have gotten some excellent shots of smaller birds in flight with the Sigma 105. :)

My most used lens. I'll be darned if it can't do it all. Nice shot.

Thank you all for the positive feedback, the younger raptors seems to be interested in anything going on around them. The older birds seems to adapt the attitude of -been there-seen it-nothing new. The photo posted is basically a 100% crop from the 1Ds II so I am quite impressed with the amount of detail still captured as the original RAW image was under-exposed by several stops. I am starting to get really fond of this 100mm Macro.

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

Very nice capture. Raptors normally seem very timid of me so I don't have many shots of them.

Great shot!

The 100mm macro is a wonderfully flexible tool isn't it! :)

How do you get to focus QUICK with the Sigma 105 (i own one but focus is terribly slowwwwwww)!
