Hopper & it's Nymph

Hiya All,

Found this little Hopper & Nymph on my Lavender Border in fact there are were thousands of them, if you have Lavender go give it a tap & watch for a cloud of what appears to be Midges fly off, it's not it's these

The adult was laying across a new growth leaf which I measured at 2mm across so you can see it was quite a tiddler & the Nymph was 1mm

I was totaly amazed at the amount of Hoppers there were just on one bush alone

Super shots Mark. I shot some of these yesterday boy are they small and don't they go some.

I did use the 250 for these also at full zoom, both ****s are stacked from four shots & seemed to work OK this time

Excellent captures Mark - don't get many of that type of hopper here and certainly have never seen the nymph.

I'd never seen these before, it wasn't 'till I disturbed my Lavender as I was Trimming it back as it had grown very ' Leggy ' that I saw what appeared to be clouds of Midges, obviously on a close look they were Hoppers, they're hellish small, not seen one over 2 mm yet.

A 250 is a Clip on Lens from Ranox, its full title is a DCR-250 Super Macro lens

works a treat but can be a bit fiddly in my experience though as one needs to make sure its centred correctly for sharp shots, its supposed to be self centring due to the action of the spring loaded lug, Mmmmm not always & that can be frustrating apart from that it's a little gem & until I can afford the MPE it'll do nicely.

Super shots Mark, great shooting to get that detail on the nymph too.

I have a fair amount of lavender in our garden, so weather permitting, Ill give it a tap over the weekend

Psst, no rain today (very overcast all day tho, but no rain is a bonus) lol
