You're right on keeping that lens at f/8. This shot is pretty sweet tho! The kid looks like hes about ready to die or something. Only thing i'd do is cool it down a little. It looks like this was taken late in the day based on the shadow. The light gets real warm... try knocking the color down a couple K and I think you'll have more natural looking tones. no gear List

Aug 24, 2007 09:36 | #22 Yes I agree it is warm, most of my images are pretty warm. I've tried using different WB settings. I use the presets because I don't have enough time to custom WB and the light changes so quick in the late afternoon. Once it is dark and I have only arena light I change to Tungsten setting and it helps, sometimes it turns them a little blue. I'm still struggling with this. Is it better to shoot Auto WB and fix it later?

Tungsten is usually reserved for indoor use... but if they have tungsten lights in the arena thats a good move. Yeah, you can do white cards... but I find it easier just to proof in post processing. I'm gonna play with it anyways so I just get it close with the camera auto settings. You can easily edit the white balance in PP using Canon's DPP. It even does batch changes using the recipe files. If the light is relatively the same, make a recipe with like idk... 5300k or whatever it is and copy that recipe to all the files with the same light color. no gear List
