I'm a little behind get my stuff PP'd. This show was 7/30/07. He really put on a great show. Once again, plenty of lighting, just not very interesting. Used 20d with combination of 17-55 2.8 & 70-200 2.8. Complete gallery is here. (external link)

Some good shots, but not great: Keep an eye out for the background in the images: In #4, 5 and 6 the BG kills the image.
I like #1, 7 and 8. #2 could use a crop, and is nice as well then.
Agree with your comment on #8.

Nice shots, man.

And he's to be commended for his choice of guitar in #7...

While # 7 is pretty good, # 8 is an awesome "killer" capture...

Sometimes the best shows are visually blah but rarely is there a visually exciting show that is.

I totally disagree, because sometimes it adds to it. Also, being a person who shoots many concerts, you realize, you can't exactly control such things. It's there and one's movement for taking shots is limited.

Love'em all! #6 and 7 are my favs

Not much I could do with the BG in those. I had 2 song limit (those w/wireless mic) after which I went to my seat and packed up my camera. I sat and enjoyed most of the rest of the show. But after watching person after person keep walking up and being allowed to take pictures, and then several at a time, just plant themselves up front shooting w/o being sent away, I figured the 2 song limit must have just applied to being able to go where I wanted up front, and shot the last song or 2 + encore from my seat.

Thanks all for the comments. Much appreciated.

I like them. Looks like a fun show to shoow. I have no issue with the BG. I guess you could remove it, but being one who does not do that myself, maybe that is why I don't care. it is live show photography...

I don't think he was recommending I remove the BG, but rather try to get a better angle. Which would have been my preference, but at that point, being limited to my seat, I just had to play the cards I was dealt. In terms of getting a shot of the bass player, I don't think I could have moved anywhere that would have helped with the BG. :D
