I snapped this image as I was passing by with my old A40 2MP Canon, ages ago.
It seems people are fighting to keep this old engine in service as the powers to be don't want to fund it anymore.

The others I did are pretty average. I was surprised with the 2MP quality, thus the reason for posting this one.

Had to shoot through a wire fence standing on my toes, I just think the A 40 did well.

Not something we see on the rails much anymore and it's a real shame.
Great shot and a lucky opportunity.

Thanks for looking desertraptor, makphoto and Jay_Williams.
Its great to see something like this on the spur of the moment when you are driving past a rail yard.Lucky my daughter had the A40 that I gave her to use.She is now demanding my G7 all the time HAHA!

I like the pic. I quite like the undercoat grey 3801. Not many of the other railfans do though AFAIK. ;)

I cannot comment on any funding issue, though I am aware that there is an issue with the lease on the locomotive (it's still technically owned by the government). The company with the lease is going broke and the NSW government want the museum to look after it but they don't want to or something like that. That's my understanding as far as I am aware.

Anyone that does know the situation is quite welcome to correct me if I am wrong. :)
