That D3 is pulling me to the dark side...

The d300 is pulling me.

Well not really. I don't think I could afford the lens switch even with just 2 lenses.

Ron you can't switch to the dark side. WTH would you do with the 24-70(s)?

Having a weak moment, Ronald? ;)

If it satisfies your needs and desires go for it! I hope that doesn't mean you won't be coming over to POTN to hang out with us anymore.

Is that the sound of Canon rebates I hear? Are they getting closer?
Kudos to Nikon...I'm happy. Canon needs the competition.

there's all this talk about competition, but in reality, how many people really do swap systems? once you've got comfortable w/ a system, and invested $$$ in the lenses, it's not an elastic market. maybe 5% established users would switch?

sure, if you just got a rebel XTi and had a couple of lenses, it's not as big a deal to make the move (or a D40/D50 + lenses). but otherwise, i just don't see it.

i dunno, maybe there are more people switching (or going to) than i think.

After that dpreview review I am!

But, as Jason said, my pictures already suck...changing gear won't improve that.

I'm quite sure Ronald knows I'm kidding.

But I'm not about the lens. What lens lineup would you go with "hypothetically speaking" of course? :)

I'm really gawking over Nikons attempt because what's it competing with? The D300 is more than the 40D for what? Higher ISO that may work, better screen (which I never cared about, seems more marketing than actual use), better fps with add on but mind you it says up to and not 8.

Plus, it's fully manual which many people can't use that. As for the D3. more than the MkIII and less than a 1DsMkIII, it sits in the middle where unless you have a Nikon already, why buy it over the MkIII? Is the Noink a poor man's 1Ds?

they dont have an MPE 65 equivalent so serious macro enthusiasts wont be switching.

Well FWIW, I found out VR is Nikon's IS and DX is EF-S. That's all I know though.
