With a 24-70 2.8 that isn't soft or with focus issues, Ron could have some fun. :)

Amazing news,. looks like Nikon is on as equal footing with Canon as possible for the first time in a long while.

D3 looks very cool. Full Frame even if some Noinks swear they don't wan ii, now the same people will be extolling it's virtues for sure since Noink has one :)

I'm glad I bought a 30D when I did, at the time the decision was very easy and I'm very happy with the camera. If I was in the market now, the choice would be much harder and I'd seriously be considering Nikon.

Canon is going to have to do some work to gain back some ground they've just lost but they've done it before and I trust they'll manage it again. Im looking forward to the release of the new 5D and hope Canon get it right, if the specs are competitive it'll be my next body, if not I wont be giving any money to Canon for a while.

that statement may hold true, lets see their 3200 and 6400 images first...

With Nikons past high-ISO performance, I won't get all excited about this until they start releasing some sample shots into the wild.

On paper I make a million dollars, am 6' 5", have a six-pack, and can speak 10 languages .... sadly, I don't meet any of those "paper" specs :-D

According to Rob Gailbrith's site they were suprised at the quality of the shots but they want to test it in real world situations against the Canon couterparts before claiming anything.

I don't post very often but with nikon's new lineup i had to. Just the other day while out shooting (I shoot both canon and nikon) I was using my d2x with 200/2.0 when some guy sitting on the sideline said to me "why are you using that crap! You should be using canon! Haven't you seen they out did nikon with the 1dm3!" I could have answered I have the IIn's but I wanted to use the 200 lense but instead I said " you tell me which camera is best yet I'm the one making money with the Nikon crap."
A camera is a camera....period. I've seen guys stuting around saying how canon is this and that and now they are saying "oh competition is good!"
Like the other poster said, "They are just tools. Go out and shoot!"

I still have problems with their lens lineup and prices. They have a lot of stuff that Canon doesn't, but they also don't have a lot of stuff that Canon does.

how could people be possibly be comparing the AF accuracy of the 40D vs D300 when no one's tried either?

no Idea but would help sales if canon dropped the price just a little to make the 40D look even more attractive.

As far as teh new coach dont really care. Steelers win or lose doesnt matter to me. they can be 0-16 or 16-0 and I feel the same. I would much rather watch them if they yanked Toothlessburger and played batch.

Was really into the Steelers years, and years ago. Never really like Cowher that much. But of course jumped on the bandwagon when they won the super bowl. I just don't have time and with daughters, football isn't big on the priority list.

, and they are laughing at the upgrade to the 40D. basically calling it a joke. one guy had mentioned that they put an xti in a heavier body.

shannon

That's actually pretty close, is it not? Is the high ISO noise level better in the 40D? I think I want one but the noise improvement is the key issue for me.

I hope this drives the prices down on all models of camera. that will be the major selling point now, the feature sets are impressive with Canon and Nikon. $5000 for the D3, $8000 for the 1DsMIII
