Yes, I think I read that the noise handling is better than the XTI.
the xxD lineup has always been better than the XTx lineup in almost all aspects (noise, fps, ergonomics).

I still have problems with their lens lineup and prices. They have a lot of stuff that Canon doesn't, but they also don't have a lot of stuff that Canon does.

Yeah, I always thought their lenses were pretty darn expensive for what they are, and they're missing a few from the lineup.

how could people be possibly be comparing the AF accuracy of the 40D vs D300 when no one's tried either?

Who is comparing accuracy? We mentioned that they used a 51 point AF system and "on paper" it looked better but nobody said it "was/is" better.

Anyone dumping all their stuff because paper announcements are crazy (but i will be happy because I will buy your "junk" cheap to help you convert). I hope it makes you a better photographer or makes your pictures magically better.

I hope this drives the prices down on all models of camera. that will be the major selling point now, the feature sets are impressive with Canon and Nikon. $5000 for the D3, $8000 for the 1DsMIII

Well, the 1DsMKIII does have almost twice the pixel count. That has to cost something.

this is retarded.
About the D300 all the lens limitations.
Usable lenses • DX AF NIKKOR: All functions possible
• D-/G-type AF NIKKOR (excluding IX NIKKOR lenses): All functions possible (excluding PC Micro- NIKKOR)
• AF NIKKOR other than D-/G-type (excluding lenses for F3AF): All functions except 3D-Color Matrix Metering II possible
• AI-P NIKKOR: All functions except Autofocus, 3D-Color Matrix Metering II possible
• Non-CPU AI NIKKOR: Can be used in exposure modes A and M; electronic range finder can be used if maximum aperture is f/5.6 or faster; Color Matrix Metering and aperture value display supported if user provides lens data

Atleast canon has EF or EF-s and only thing you need to know is EF-s wont work on anything but 1.6crop

My gear

R7, 7D, Canon RF 14-35 f4L, Canon RF 50 1.8 STM, Tamron 70-200 G2, Canon 100-400LII, Canon EF-RF

$3K is certainly a big difference in $$$, but the 1Ds would be more a competitor to medium format, no? plus, it's the 3rd gen FF body from canon, as opposed to nikon's debut entry.

and i am really curious as to what price gap would cause people to switch systems? $300? $500? unless you are just starting out in a DSLR system, i can't see someone w/ one or two bodies and 3-5 lenses and/or flashes specific to one system jumping ship over that sort of price difference, unless they feel the difference is worth it. i personally don't.

has anyone reading this thread ever jumped from system A to system B?

Good point, but who needs 21 or 16 or 14 megapixels for that matter.

I have a feeling Canon will be dropping into third place in sales or even 4th with Olympus having a new model. It'll take Canon a few years to try and counter these other companies' develoment that Canon has been blind to.

Why should it take canon a few years to develop technology it already has and has been selling at a premium price for quite some time?
