Very good shots you have there. Flare is seen as an aberration by most, but I love them. #3 is my favorite, awesome work.

Yea. There are alot of things that are considered abberations and improper exposure technique by alot of people. I think if you end up with what you want, then nothing should be bad or wrong. And hey, I just noticed your signature. Fits right in to what me and BB had to say. ;-)a

Some people don't like flare but I like it if it adds to the shot. Good job Diablo!

Thanks all for the comments. It's great to have other people enjoy your work. Much of what I've learned has come directly from the wisdom others here have shared.

Alpha Chicken: The only image that's had any serious PP work is the 2nd one. I used the Orton effect on that one (duplicate layer, gaussian blur, multiply blending mode). I can't recall if I did anything to the other two. Maybe an unsharp mask or slight contrast adjustment. I'm pretty sure those two are as is though. And as for the quote, yup, Ansel Adams had a lot of great quotes, but that particular one has to be my favorite. There's just too much variety in life to try and place rules on how something should be shot... Cheers!

:) amen to that.

yea, the second was the only one that looked PPed a lot to me. Its really cool though. I didn't know about that effect. I'll have to remember that for experimenting purposes.

:-D

Thanks for the CC. The incinerator is a pretty interesting subject...here's another. I think the vertical may be a bit off though. There's not much to this one, but I thought it was kind of neat how the smoke sort of disappeared into the darkness.

I do love good creative use of flare and these are prime examples, all good with the incinerator being my fave, always been a sucker for directional smoke trails lol.

Yea must agree again and again here, those are pretty darn cool. I like the closer crop better for the incinerators.
