I just ordered a 40D through Amazon and I'll get it tomorrow! They are fantastic for sure.

I can't even get the camera through B&H and I really like them. They just don't have them in yet. I don't know why Amazon can get them and B&H can't. It's a mystery for sure!

The camera will definitely be shipped from Amazon as the shipping is covered under the "free shipping" as offered on the 40D listing. That tells you it is coming from Amazon itself!

I have the Prime shipping so I get 2 day shipping free and 1 day for $3.99! Can't beat that with a big stick!

Had three transactions with Amazon...

1st - Amazon.co.uk - ordered a book paid priority shipping. Told them I needed it urgently. It was in stock. Had to write 3 letters to them. Finally, after 6 weeks and with pressure from my credit card company they produced the goods, swearing blind they'd been sent already. My CC was, incidentally, debited as soon as I placed the order.

2nd. Amazon.co.uk - ordered a book. It turned up dog-eared with pages missing and obviously second-hand - not the new book I actually ordered.

3rd. Amazon.com. Ordered a charger for my Nikon 995. They debited my CC right away. Then they kept sending me notices that the goods (which were in stock when I ordered) were on backorder and would be delivered in 3 weeks time. I let them play that game for more than 2 months then issued a chargeback via my CC company. I complained to the CEO of Amazon and heard nothing back.

I have never ordered anything from Amazon since. I never will order anything more from Amazon. I would be quite happy if Amazon fell off the face of this planet. They seem to be a bunch of liars and crooks judging by my experiences.

just curious, will the customer service/sales people know if their stock is up to date? has anyone ever experienced purchasing an item through amazon and them saying they don't have them in stock and are on backorder?
