I wonder if buying a 40D from B&H will be as difficult as buying a 1DIII was. But thanks for the links. I've book marked the first.

I pre-ordered mine from Ritz camera like I did with the 50 1.2L when it first came out. If you order it from their .gov website (for DoD members through AAFES on-line) you don't have to pay taxes (unless you're from Maryland like me :( ) and you get a discount, so the price was $1173.09.

So whens the new kit lens coming out?

EDIT: Ok, I nevermind. found everything! I love being military!

That's not bad if you can flip the 25-135 for $350.

Malone, Why did you sell the MIIN to get a 40D? And how do you "find" a 20D and 5D. I looked at your gear list. I'm trying to get me a MIIN at the end of the year. If the MIII has worked out bugs I will look at it but I was trying to take advantage of the MIIN's that will be left now that the MIII is out.

I generally buy from B&H, but they have problems with per ordering...I heard this camera won't be out till Oct. so how can they say Sept? That might be the problem, listing it coming out earlier to get more buyers and not able to get it to people in that time expected.

I'm getting this..

Not sure about the kit, probably just the body.!!!

LOL I didn't sell the 1D2N for the 40D. I sold it to fund a 5D and a 20D (so that makes 25D total). I need two bodies rather than one and the 20D is more than efficient as a back-up body. I "found" them after placing a WTB ad here and on FM. I also pre-ordered the 40D, so I'll actually have 3 bodies. When the 40D gets here I'll either keep the 20D and convert it to IR or give it to the wife, or sell it to help fund the purchase of the 5D Mark II or whatever new body comes down the line.

The 1D2N is the best all around camera I've ever owned as far as feature set and overall feel. I felt like the mighty warrior photographer whenever I shot with it, esp. when the 70-200L IS was mounted. But the new direction I'm taking in photography doesn't require me to have everything the 1D2N has to offer, so I decided we needed to part ways. It was like dating an uber sexy and wild vixen with whom you've had hot sex with for over a year, but then in the end settling down with the girl next door who mom would approve of. Who knows? Perhaps one day soon I'll be able to have my cake and eat it too. Once this stuff starts paying for itself I'll rethink the 1D series. Maybe I'll be ready by the time the 1D Mark III N is annouced. ;)

Hmmmm, I'm not seeing the discount, just $1299.99 final price.

If you go through AAFES and then their Mall. Scroll down to find Ritz and by their name it lists %5 off products and free shipping. Took me awhile too.

Nice, got it, thanks. Hot Topic has a 10% discount too lol. NICE!

When does it reflect in the price? I put a 40D in my shopping cart and it still reads $1299.99.

When you go to the final check out it applies the discount.

Also for us folk using AAFES, Ritz price matches. So after reading their policy, we can submit a price we find from Adormama, Beach Camera, or B&H (as long sa it's not a sell) and they'll match it! So no shipping or tax on a cheaper price plus 5%! Why didn't I know about this earlier!?

Maybe the 40D will drop in price by the time I get it, in Jan. psh, yea right.
