Can anybody confirm if the back layout of the 1DsII and original 1Ds are identical? Specifically the placement and size of the buttons and lcd.

I want to buy a Delkin pro pop-up shade for my 1Ds but they don't have one listed for that model, only for the newer 1DsII.

Thanks,

They are very similar. There are a couple extra buttons on the 1Ds M.kII

The link is spotty. You'll have to hit f5 to get it to load.

Thanks, I knew you'd come through with a bit of info on 1Ds's. Your conviction on the 1Ds helped push me in that direction by the way.

I assume you're not likely a fan of the popup shades and don't use one? I had one on my 20D and grew to like it so I'm tempted to try one for my new-for-me 1Ds now too.

The only attention I pay to the rear of my camera is for settings and making sure the eyepiece is still there!

I used to have that PDA/camera film on the back of my 1Ds M.kI but took it off. So yeah, not a big fan of anything on the rear lcd.

The Delkin pop-up LCD covers are not that well made. I put one on my 20D and took it off after one shooting session because it was nuisance to open each time I wanted to look at my LCD and it didn't really help viewing the screen in bright light.

When I decided to give it another try, one of the tabs on the cover broke and the whole thing fell apart in about six pieces. End of that idea...
