Well I never really posted anykind of test shots of this lens when I got it back in January. I've used it a few times and was always annoyed at the black ring around the pics (i know its supposed to do that). Had to crop it out and hope I still retained the fisheye shot. It wasn't till about a month ago I was bored out of my mind while home watching our newest kitten go nuts that I decided to take some shots with it. Now if anyone has this lens you'll know that it comes with what sigma likes to call a "lens hood", this hood holds the lens cap on when not in use. Well i decided to see what the shot looks like without this "hood" on. And boy was I surprised at how much of a difference it made.
Bare with me, i know the shots weren't taken from the exact same spot.
Here is a shot wit the hood on:
Without hood:
Now there is still some distortion i guess its called, but nowhere near as noticeable with the hood off.
I'll take some more shots tomorrow in the daylight and in Manual mode so everything is the same.
Ok and I'll throw in some bored out of my mind test shots with the canon 24-105 f/4 L. No PP, just resizing. Some shots aren't showing exif for some reason.
