Are there any mac users on here that have the time and the knowledge to provide me with a step by step idiots guide to properly calibrating the brightness and colors on my new macbook? I've googled it lots but i cant find anything that makes sense to an 18 year old with absolutely no knowledge of the ins and outs of color profiles.

pretty darn easy.

mac -> preferences, hardware, displays. Click color, then scroll down to "iMac" or whatever you named your computer.

"open profile" lets you see the values (worthless)

"calibrate" takes you through calibration by eyeball (without a calibrating device). I use this -- it comes extremely close to what I get when I borrow a pal's hardware profiler. Just follow the directions.

Then in photoshop or whatever your favorite photo editor is, turn on color management.
