Selynn bowl jam in North Vancouver. I was mostly there on a social capacity since I was with people that were celebrating 20 years of friendship. The young bucks were having some fun as we talked of the good ole' days.

This first one is in such a small part of the bowl you can't imagine. #2 is literally whizzing past my head as I stand.

The angle on the first picture makes me feel almost as if I was riding up to the same spot where the rider just took off from. It's a cool effect! Great shot!

Awesome shots! what lens did you use for these, they have a wide angle feel to them.

1Ds Mk.II, Sigma fisheye on the first, 17-40 and a polarizer on the others. I'm about 4 feet from them I guess. First one has on camera flash, the others are pocketwizard fired remote flash (580EX II at full power).

Metering was really hard here since the bowl reflects so much but the dark foliage in the back does not coupled with a mostly overcast day. Shot 1 I got a lucky break in the clouds.

And did you use AI Servo focus or prefocused somewhere? Did you use f/8 to get enough sharpness (espacially on the 1st photo)?

F/8, Cf 4.3

I take one step forward, I set the focus to where he will be, step back and just shoot. It's rarely past the 1.2 metre mark.

All the shots here are shot blind. I'm not looking through the viewfinder, just tracking and shooting getting the camera as close as possible. Aiming by feel.
