First post in this lovely bird forum you guys have here. After browsing a bit I quickly realized the high caliber of shots in here that quite outshine my own but anyways here is my contribution using my 70-200 F4 at a nearby park where a few Herons were hanging out.

Indeed, I was surprised myself. At least the birds I see on the river you don't stand a chance of getting close. These guys were very cool, the park itself is between residential neighborhoods so I assume they're just used to people, I was pretty close but they even walked past me without even ruffling a feather at my presence.
