Just returned late last night from a 4day houseboating trip with some good friends at Shuswap Lake. I've been wanting to go for years, and after several months of planning, the trip finally came around and was a complete blast. For those that don't know what Houseboating is, essentially, it is a house that floats, which you can drive around on the water. They come fully equipped with a generator, showers, dishwasher, speakers, hot tubs, bars, bbq, beds, tables, waterslide, etc etc etc etc! The lake is huge, and you can boat around and in the evenings you have to beach your boat on the several hundred beaches around, where you can make a campfire, or meet up with other boats, and party the night away.

Anyways I finally got around to dumping my 6gb of pics, and will post them as I go thru them.

This first pic however was taken on our 2nd day, when we had the most amazing weather ever. I also got to test out my new B+W polarizer filter, which I have to say was worth EVERY cent. I've been a user of a cheaper fotodiox polarizer in the past, but since I got my new L lens, I figured no reason to put a cheap polarizer on it.

I like the 1st shot of the 2. I would just crop the bottom a tad to keep the eye's interest for the sky.

Wow, #2 man. You can swim that far out holding your camera above water? Wicked upper body strength!

Likin' that polarizer action eh?

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional

both very nice shots, great colours....agree you could lose a bit of water in #1...love the perspective in #2, you did well to hold steady shooting from a kyak. Maybe you should try to sell the shot to the housboat people, it looks good enough to be in an ad brochure.

Lovely pics! Visited Shushwap last year for a few days and loved it....gorgeous place! Saw a few houseboats on the lake, but none were quite as posh as that one! ;)

Thanks everyone for your comments!!

Cos, you've seen how big my upper body is right? Although my 1D did go under the water a few times, but its waterproof right? :P Haha! I probably will however invest in a dry sack, and keep it on standby just for situations like this. The water wasn't hairy at all, it was pretty calm, and although the camera did get splashed quite a bit, it held up with no problems. I LOVE weather sealing.

Yes I'm totally loving the new polarizer. I got a wack more load of shots to post up. The sky and clouds were just begging to be shot.

bikerider: Most of the shots I post, I rarely crop, but I will most likely crop that one shot (the water) and do a large print of it. Its just begging to be printed and hung up on the wall.

slicendice: Did you just visit the lake, or go houseboating? There was easily over 100 house boats out on the lake during this past weekend. Our boat was just a regular boat compared to some of the larger ones out there. Some of them were 3 stories, had fully covered tube waterslides, including swim-up-bars as well!
