After seeing all of the threads starting to pop up from the Mosport weekend I thought I would post my own. Made due with the rather unfortunate weather and managed to get some decent shots I think (first time out with the Rebel 400D and borrowed an EF 75-300 lens to test out). Most shots came from around the Turn 5 area as the girlfriend came with me and didn't want to lose good seating for some of the events. C&C are welcome and appreciated. PP was image resizing and some colour boosting to combat the poor conditions.

It must be really tough to freeze a car from a profile position, huh? Most of these are really great. The last one feels a bit soft.

yeah, I do agree that the last one is quite soft and I believe it's a mix of me not steadying the camera enough and also some shortcomings of the lens itself. The shots like the Viper were rather difficult from where I was sitting as the cars came over the hill into the turn and wheels would be visible in an instant. Took a lot of practice timing the shutter to snap the car without wheels visible as to not get the "hey who parked the car on the track?" look.

All in all it was a great experience, I now just need to make the decision of a 70-200 f4 IS or non IS for the next glass investment :)

I've got the non IS version of the 70-200 f4 and its great, you definitely wouldn't be going wrong. Test out the IS and if it works for you it might be a great investment for the step up.

Thanks for the suggestion, the inclusion of IS in the 70-200 would be for a wee bit more IQ but frankly I think the non-IS would be sharp enough for my needs and f4 is plenty for the shooting I do.

Thanks all for the comments! Connor I took your advice and picked up a second hand 70-200 f4 non-IS off another canadian member on the boards here. Very excited for the lens to arrive and to see how it performs compared to the 75-300.

You'll love it, cant wait to see the shots you take with it, you should definitely notice a difference in IQ from the 75-300.
