homemade lanyard (less touristy)

That's good stuff.

You absolutely must post more photos of that lanyard. How is it secured to camera?

don't have any pics of it close up, just 4 lines of it, and it's tied on with the tips burnt and the knot burnt to keep it tied.

After a few days of intensive research and selection (after all, second to what camera/lenses we shoot, what camera bag we choose is one of a photographer's fundamental defining things... :) ) I got my new bag yesterday (I'd quickly outgrown my previous Lowepro Rezo in a month or so).

It's a Crumpler Muffintop 7500 (European Crumpler bag) from the Crumpler store in London:-
Crumpler Muffintop 7500 Olive (external link)

This is for a standard typical XSi setup: Canon 450D + Grip, 18-55IS, 55-250IS, EF 50mm 1.8, 580EXII, and assorted bits (batteries, flash gels, ebay triggers, filters etc.)

So far, I'm pretty happy with it - it's not too big/weighty, and yet it stores all my stuff reasonably accessibly, and it doesn't look like a camera bag. It's also small enough so that I can put it inside my rucksack when necessary.

I find the clasp mechanism a little clunky, but otherwise it's great!

My review thread and piccies

7D, 450D | 17-55, 10-22, 55-250, 50 1.8, 580EXII | YN568II | YN622 x3 | Magic Lantern | (Still) Jonesing for a 70-200 2.8...
Turns out a gripped 7D + 622 + 580exII + 70-200 2.8 IS MK2 is BLOODY HEAVY! Who knew?!!

Hi there

Your photo was really helpful to me as I am needing a larger bag and was thinking of the Tamrac Expedition 7x (or possibly the 8x) as one option, the other option was the LowePro Flipside 400AW.

The reason I want a larger inner size is to carry the Canon 400mm and at most, either the 70-200 or the 25-105, and either the 100mm macro or the 60mm macro plus 580Ex flash - together with the 40D and ideally the 350D. Probably not all of these at once, but often a combination of lenses, but the criteria must fit the 400mm.

So, do you think the Tamrac 7x would fit all (when I say all, that would be at most and not a frequent set) of the above?

The LowePro 400AW looks like it will be ok too, but I read a comment by a previous poster that the zipper has made a slight scratch on the screen of his camera.

Any thoughts on the above? Comments from all are very welcome :)

Thanks.

Linda

Just loaded up my new Tamrac 5586 Expedition 6x. Holds everything I own easily and is pretty comfortable to wear. Now I just need to get in better shape for some long hikes with this pack!

Here's a view of the outside with tripod attached:

And here's the inside with 2 Canon bodies and several lenses:

Lowepro Microtrekker 200. I wanted a small rucksack so I could wear it all day and not get fed up with it. It holds all of my current kit, although I'm probably going to have a re-arrange do ditch the filter cases (they're empty - no point in lugging them around) and carry my compact instead.

post #1872 is the inside of my expedition 7 with similar equipment as you want to put in it, it should work fine.

Ive bought myself a compact Tamrac adventure 6 backpack for my new hobby :D

All i carry in it is my 450D + kit lens, 55-250IS, and lens covers etc and some accessories. Could fit another lens but not much more than that. All my current equipment fits in...fits my needs.

I think you would be fine with the 7x. I almost bought that one but I was worried about carry-on restrictions and the 7x is just too much bag for me right now (I say that now but I'll probably be wanting one later). I'm really impressed with the build of my 6x and would not hesitate to recommend any of the Expedition series. Good luck!

Thanks very much for your input too, especially as you recommend the build quality of your 6x. Looks like the 7x is the one I will go for :)

This is an awesome thread!
I am on page 72 and my head is humming.
I currently have a Slingshot 200 but with a 70-200, the 100-300, all those original hoods and other lenses - I am running out of space.

There are a lot of good solutions in this thread but I have not seen anybody using this one: http://cgi.ebay.com …EWAX:IT&item=290285437435 (external link)

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

definately looks roomy, and a good price, especially for having the CANON embroider...ization (?) on it. <--dunno what that was, but it makes sense in my mind.

I'm very pleasantly surprised how how roomy this bag is... Plus I have to admit I love the look of it.
