Thanks. Those are such sweet cases, just pricy. Tempting if I could look at them locally. They look more like a brief case then a photography hard case like the pelicans.

i'll say it again...

you always have the best of everything...Halliburton...i want one.

its Zero Halli...
remember those briefcases you see in movies where an army general kinda looking guy has a briefcase handcuffed to him, opens it, and like three other people insert a key so that the President can launch WWIII? thats Zero Halliburton. its the rolls royce of aluminum cases.

There are a few similar cases out there, but they're not the 'real deal'. One of the nice things about Zero Halliburton is that you can buy new foam inserts for specific cases, so if your gear changes over time, you can start from scratch with new foam/cutouts. I've done that a couple times. B&H sells the foam.

By the way, I've bought all my Halliburton cases used when and where I find them. I ended up throwing one of them out, but that was after some very hard use that resulted in fatal damage. If there's one complaint about all aluminum cases, it's how they look after a couple years of use. They still work great, but really start to look ratty. On the other hand, how better to look like an old pro?

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

The zero haliburton on eBay are very reasonable in price. It is almost like why would you buy the knock off.

Canon bags? Canon bags are not that great I think. Crumpler makes sweet shoulder bags, and backpacks too I think. The haliburton sure is sweet, eh? It won't be that much, probably like 50% more then my crumpler 7MDH. I'll avoid it for now though, cause it will attract a lot of attention on a kid I think.

These are my bags.
- Lowepro Nova 4
- Wenger SwissGear Synergy Laptop Backpack

I usually carry the Lowepro Nova 4 for most occasions but if I'm going to be out all day shooting, I'll bring the Synergy backpack which contains the laptop, food, clothes, and other items.

1) The bags

I have the 200 and it is a very usefull bag although I overstuff it a bit.

The 300 and looks good and I am thinking it might be worth getting as long as I don't put even more stuff in it.

Problem is you can't get it yet in the UK.

thanks for that link. is the 300 slightly larger then the 200? the 20d with the 100 macro it looked kinda tight. Is there any problem closing it up?

Well I have it stuffed full so it is tight. I now keep the camera on its side, which makes it a lot easier; also I have removed the extra internal spaced from the inside of the centre section. The 100mm macro is no problem. Width with hoods on is more of an issue but I can manage no worries. It's the hoods that take the space up.

Standard load in the main compartment.
Camera, 100 mm macro, 17-40 f4L, EF-S 10-22, 24-105 f4L, 200/2.8L all with hoods on reversed (and the 200 is a big hood), the hood for he 17-40 is the one used for the 24/1.4L about the same size as the hood that comes with 24-105. The native 17-40 hood I use for the 10-22; that's in there too. There is also a spare EF-S 60mm macro I sometimes use with the 100mm macro instead of its hood.
In the CF card pocket, a Pocket WhiteBal card and lanyard and a little device of cardboard and string I have used for years to help frame shots and select the right focal length.

Camera fits in the center section with ay hood reverce mounted (except the big square 10-22 hood).

Standard load in the little pocket on the top.
Timer/cable release, media safe, spare battery, end and body cap set, angle finder C, plastic bags and rubber bands for rain covers. Jeweller’s screwdriver, small multi-tool. Probably some other stuff.

Standard load in the top section.
EF 1.4X, EF 2X, stack of canon ext tubes, 2X50mm + 1X12mm (all in small drawstring Canon pouches, small Lasolite fold up reflector, lens cloths and pen, various DOF tables, sun compass.

Total weight is about 5.7Kg including the bag. This is OK, but can start digging in after a few hours if I don't have a thick outer garment on.

I have in the past added the 300 f4L IS in a lens case on the side, but to be honest this gets heavy fast.
