It is very stable when worn. Think of it as a holster. Contents need to be where you expect. ;) It has room for 2 Glocks IIRC. I don't have one...weight isn't a real issue. The Maxpedition pad slips and slides on my all-weather coats. So I wear the strap diagonally across my chest. (A Domke Postal Pad is a great addition.)
The inside of the bag is gnarly. I use it with a liner to protect my camera surfaces. That makes it more fidly than I like.
It is a great every-day-carry bag. I use it regularly on construction sites. It carried my Sony NEX5 better than my Nikon; I considered adding a Maxpedition water bottle carrier for additional lenses. However, bag was expensive enough without accessories.

I'm going to the shop that might carry it this weekend. Looks like it fits what I need.

Not quite enough photos on this page, so here's a mediocre iPhone photo of the current state of my bag collection in the spare closet.

8 Timbuk2s, 5 Crumplers, and a couple stealth canvas messengers all hiding in here. Inserts are stacked on the shelf above the bags.

After trying a few different bags and styles I settled on the Lowepro Flipside Sport 15L AW.

This layout is essentially what I took on vacation last week and the bag fits in the overhead bin on a 777 with plenty of room to spare. There's also additional room inside for a rocket blower, nodal rail, filters, and my camera is sitting on top of my sling. I really like this tripod carrier compared to others I've tried. There's an additional pocket on the opposite side which has room for misc items but was specifically designed for a water bladder.

Another mediocre iPhone photo -- hey, can't take a picture of my bag with my DSLR if said DSLR is in the bag...

Anyway, it's a 2012+ Dakine Sequence 33 L, holding the gear that's in my signature. Not shown in a Manfrotto 190XPROB with 496RC2, which straps neatly to the side. Pocket in the laptop sleeve (on the flap) holds extra LP-E6, charger, CF card reader and various cables.

The 7D needs to be on its side, because if I had the hotshoe side on the top, I'd be running out of thickness: 7D+grip+base plate is way taller than a Rebel...

I change bags a few times a year but this is pretty much my favorite.
