This is a helpful thread

Anyone have a good suggestion for a starter bag: 5d, 24-70, 580EX, maybe with room to spare for one more lens? I heard the 6 Million Dollar Crumpler might be a good option.

Even if I expand later, it might be nice to have a basic day bag.

70-200mm f/2.8, 400 f/5.6, 17-40, and a 50mm. it looks like the back packs are the way to go if i want to be able to put my 10d with the 70-200 or 400 in it with it on the camera and then one in a side pocket.

would the canon bag be able to handle these lenses? also have a monopod and tripod. also, what would the comparable lowepro bag be?

thanks.

No- the Domke F-802 or F-7 Double AF (probably also the F-4AF, but I don't have that one) will also take that.

My camera bag is in post #353 in this thread. It doesn't look much like a camera bag at all, rather a normal back pack, and it will fit as a carry on.

Hi can you post more photos of the upper compartment? Does it fit a Macbook, 13" notebook, and other books in it? I'm really interested with this bag :)

It wouldn't fit a laptop or any books in the top. It's limited because the camera gear takes up most of the bottom.

I wanna know too. I love my Domke F-2 but need a backpack for hiking. The Quantum looks good but from what I saw online, it seems like you would need to buy a camera pouch from Mountainsmith to put into it. It doesn't have a dedicated storage area.

Hello,
Does anyone have some pics of a Domke F-804 Satchel in action?
I'm thinking of getting one but would like to see it first as I have to order it online.
Thanks
Peter

Got an old F-805 (not currently availabe, but I hope they'll resume making them) and an F-7 Double AF which are much the same size, just a couple of extra pockets (on the inside top for the F-805 and on the ends for the F-7). I need to photograph my Domke collection some time; maybe I'll be able to get to it this weekend. I've done the F1X, F-2 and F-5, that leaves the F-802, F-3X, F-805 and F-7 to go.

Does anyone have pics of their LowePro Slingshot 100 loaded up? I'm trying to figure out if this thing will hold a 5D with 24-105mm and a 580EX. It's just for a trip I'm planning and I want to travel as light as possible, so if I can avoid bringing a 200, every oz. will count.

I just received my Naneu Pro Alpha backpack and I love it. The quality is way beyond what I expected. It is so well padded. Thanks T.J. (Digitalwave) for the info and the pictures.

Jon,

It would be great to see some pics of your F-805, it should be the same size as the F-804.

Thanks,
Peter
