Some of my bags are so big, the biggest is a bag with 3 or 4 film cameras, that are inclduing Mamiya RZ ProII and Hasselblad CM501, one small hard case bag is for Hasselblad digital only, all other bags are for different Canon cameras, now which bag to shoot and with which camera and with which lens? lolololol :D

I've had up to around 10. I just scaled it down but I find you need a different bag for different situations.

Mine are
Thinktank Turn style 20 for casual outdoors - Awesome and lightweight.
TT - Retro 7 - Was my fav til i got the turn style.
TT - Retro 30 - main bag that I use with pouches on the sides when I need more gear. No pouches when I shoot out of it.
TT - Urban Disguise 60v2 when I travel or take a laptop. I use it more for non photo gear lately
TT - Digital Holster 20v2. - I may move to the 30 since I now have a 400 5.6

I've been trying to come up with some sort of backpack but I cannot find anything I Like. I prefer easy access to the camera and changing lenses and I am spoiled by think tank quality.

I just purchased my first think tank bag, its an urban disguise 50v2 and wow the quality is just on another level. I fear now I have been spoiled by it as well :D

My only problem with the retrospective bags, is that they collapse. Once you take something out, you have to keep the bag open in order to put the body in.
If you want to replace a lens holding the body in one hand and the lens in the other, its not comfortable.

so what other bag doesnt collapse? that's pretty much a dealbreaker for me, my current messenger tends to collapse, but a few of my other non messengers dont collapse and stay rigid for quick lens changes. My domke collapses as well, super annoying.

Look at the more boxy and less stylish Lowepro and Tamrac offerings if you don't want the collapse.

on the flip side, is that they fit a lot, but they don't take up a ton of room. they expand.

I agree. But I guess its down with personal preferences.
I tend to change lenses often (usually between 24-70, 85 and 135). So I had a hard time with the retrospective after awhile.

Which retro bag do you use? With the 30 I find it pretty easy to change lenses. In fact its one of the main reasons I like using it.

Retro 30 could work. Will probably only use 50 and 135 most days, but need space for kid supplies

I wouldn't use it for that Charlie. You may be better off with one of those Lowepro photosport type bags or something with separate compartments.

Well I'm looking for a messenger to replace my current messenger and domke f2.

I've seen the retro 30 and maybe the lowepro messenger 200 that can work.

The domke j-803 is incredible. It's a special version of the f-803.

I used to own the 30 and 10.
The 30 was ok-ish. But when its not fully stuffed or had a large body inside keep it in shape, I had to hold it straight in order to put a lens or a body in, which was not ideal when holding a body and a lens separately.

Now I'm using the hadley large. It keeps its shape amazingly well and its very easy to change lens or put things in and out of it. It also have enough room for other things.

I've been eyeing these hadley's, but have no idea what size to get. I would like a bag big enough to fit two 5d's and 24-70 + 135 both mounted, or 5D + 70-200F2.8 mounted.

Here is how I typically use my retro bags.

Top - Retro 7 body mounted in middle lens on each side
Bottom - Retro 30 - 2 bodies with lenses mounted and at least 1 other lens. I have pouches for each side I can use for more gear.
