Probably got 30 bags stuffed in closets around the house but these are the only ones I use regularly. I’m old now so all I usually carry is an R6 with a 24-105 or 24-70 attached. Oh and a 430EX flash. That little kit will fit in any of these bags so what decides which one I take is what non photography stuff I need to have with me for the day. On a super rare occasions I’ll take a 70-200 with me if I know I won’t be walking much. If I need more than one lens I’m likely taking a backpack. That happens once in a blue moon.

Gitzo Adventury 36l.In it I have a canon 6d mkii gripped with an ef 500mm L is f/4, a canon sl2 with an ef 100-400mm L is f4.5-5.6 mkii, 50mm f1.8, 1.4x mkiii. Next I want to get an r6 and either a 24-70 f2.8 or 16-35 f4 is but I’ve already spent enough lately so those can wait.

When I switched back to Canon last month I also revamped my camera bag selection. I now keep my Timbuk2 XS Classic Messenger loaded and by the door at all times, it holds my camera, ultrawide lenses, and the small essentials. If I need to carry a larger bag or a backpack I have the next size up S Classic Messenger, or two sizes of backpack from my favorite local Seattle bag maker. But for those situations I generally plan ahead, and load not only camera gear but day trip items as well.

So 90% of the time, this is my camera bag, and all the gear except the macro lens stays loaded when not in use. Having this ready means I have taken my camera with me more in the past month than I did for the past year, because it is easy to grab and everything is prepped.

Edit to add: I use a Tenba BYOB 9 insert in the XS messenger. I have a BYOB 7 which fits my small backpack, and a three-section insert of unknown origin for the larger messenger bag and backpack.

Canon EOS M50 Mark 2, 18-150mm attached, 11-22mm, 28mm Macro, Samyang 8mm fisheye. Plus two small “macro” add-on “lenses” which work surprisingly well on my iPhone.

And the packing load for my small backpack, as carried on yesterday’s museum outing. Two ultrawide lenses are tucked into the BYOB 7 sitting at the back, and I used a neoprene camera wrap to set the M50 on top of the BYOB.

This is my day to day kit and what is in most of my bags. This is my kit walking in not knowing anything so it is just something I am comfortable with. I will change out lenses and add bodies if needed. Retrospective v30, R6, 35mm F2, 135mm F2, 70-200mm F2.8 II.

The other things I keep are as follows.

Peak design strap with spare anchors
Rain sleeve
Ear plugs(if you work in motorsports or concerts/weddings these are required)
Hair ties/safety pins/fashion tape
RGB led light
Small bag of bandages/medical supplies
Spare 64gb sd card(all my bags have them since you never know when you need a card, they are small and cheap insurance)
Tissues/personal stuff
Daily medications and ibuprofen
Small rig multitool
Hand warmers(these are useful in more than just keeping you warm, if you wrap them around a lens it can help fight off condensation at night/cold weather)
Pen/stylus

I’ve decided to use the mindshift backlight 18l instead.
The filters batteries, etc can go into the outer pocket.

A bag seems to be the hardest decision to make in this hobby... I have gone through many as the rest here have, but never completely happy with them.

This is the Wotancraft Pilot 7L and available in 2L, 3.5L and 10L also. I have only had it for a few days now, but have put it to use and so far very happy with it. It is a great light bag that is well built and can carry ALL my gear (I don't have much). I picked up the 2 detachable add-on pouches when I purchased it for those times I may need to carry more than my day to day outings.

It can easily carry everything pictured plus the Ricoh GR3 I took these with. With the pouches attached I can add 2 flashes and trigger.. No extra battery or charger needed as these are M240s and the battery life is to die for..

All the world's indeed a stage and we are merely players performers and portrayers.
