Very well put, but it is an open forum. Individuals can make their own opinions known, and if you don't like those opinions stop reading and move on to the next thread/forum.

Everyone is a contributor, even if you don't agree/like what they say. Take a chill pill and enjoy the majority of the posts.

I will now take my own advice and move on to the next thread/forum .

Back in the film days there was gear snobbery. MF v 35mm, brand against brand etc.

And you know - it didn't make any difference!

Heck, I can remember schoolyard fights between ZX80 owners and Vic-20 owners over whose machine was better!

I dunno... now that the new Nikons and 40D is out, my image quality, contrast and sharpness seem to have degraded significantly... Only by throwing large sums of cash to the "man" will the crisis be resolved...

My 1D Mark II's self-destruct mode just kicked in. All a sudden, all my pics suck. Oh wait. They always have. Nevermind.

Well in some ways yes...I gather the poster was talking sensors, but in terms of the body...I never put a photomic head on my Nikon because the simple pentaprism was so compact and simple...elegant...

Way back when I felt the Pentax Spotmatic was too small, much like the xxxD Canons, and that the D200 (and D300) is too large, AND too heavy...
I do like the 30D in size over the 10D, but I prefer the grip of the 10D...I gather that the 40D in size is like the 10D, but lighter and with a similar grip, so for me the size of the 40D appeals to me more than the Nikon...esp. with with my Nikkors on it :D

As for the raving (if not ranting) over what these new bods are and aren't, well, some people are product peepers who love reading car mags, golf mags, and fashion mags (can't leave out the ladies' obsessions) and the like to be able to drop data bombs into their opinions about products they have or products they wish they had...products they love and products they hate...
and products they love to hate...it's an opinionated worldwideweb.

Let's not bash the other guy's camera anymore. It just makes us look like fools. No one can argue with posts that are filled with elated, proud new camera/gear owners, or posts that include complaints that we hope (and know) manufacturers read and give heed to.

But it is so utterly ridiculous to be critical and condescending toward those who use other brands, and toward those manufacturers themselves. Let's have a little class and grow up."

Of all the brand rivalries in all the markets (cameras, cars, clothes, etc), the Nikon vs Canon fanboys I find are the most ridiculous.

Shop around, find what you like. The most important thing is learning about your own equipment and knowing how to use it.
