Gear collectors, not photographers...why compare ***male body parts*** . In skilled hands and even the 'not so skilled-skilled hands', I've seen some awesome pictures come from a 300D. IT iS NOT the gear the really matters, but the photographer! LOL I know that was a cliche'...oh well. Tired of all the Nikon-envy and the Canon rationalizations. In any case, there are comparing stats for a camera yet to be seen.

My Triumph is better then your MG.

My PRS is better then your Gibson.

And my Canon is better then your Nikon.

Rivalries which will last lifetimes... I dont follow them, but it's still fun to play around with the owners of MGs, Gibsons and Nikons as long as it's in good fun, and they take it in fun as well. :)

Canon 5DMk2 * 24 - 105mm F4 L * 70-200 f/4 L IS * 100mm f/2.8 Macro * 50mm f/1.8 II * 70 - 300mm f/4 - 5.6 * 580EX II * 430EX * Some Bees * Some Pocket Lint * Camera Debt *

No my Fender will kick your Gibson and your PRS's butt any day! ;) XBOX 360 is better than the Wii and PS3. DS is better then PSP. PC's are better than Macs...oh but wait, they are! ;)

Last I checked this particular forum was an "Equipment Talk" forum...
If you don't like the "fanboy" rants, then perhaps stick with the Sharing forum.

NOW THATS WELL SAID.

What's the point of coming to a forum if we can't **** and complain about our cameras or the competition's cameras. I think you should go out and shoot more if you can't handle the rants.

If $500.00 puts the D300 in another class then here _____ is were this "word" should be inserted.

They are in the same class 1.5x and 1.6 is not FF. SAME CLASS, just that Canon was a cheapo and held back on features. Basically Canon lost this one to the Noinks as the 40D gets smoked in all "feature" aspects.

That's my rant, are you shooting yet???

I dunno... now that the new Nikons and 40D is out, my image quality, contrast and sharpness seem to have degraded significantly... Only by throwing large sums of cash to the "man" will the crisis be resolved...

Indeed it will. Its called an "Upgrade"

You can't compare a 20D to the future "XXD" forever you know. At one point your camera will be MUCH inferior to the newer ones and you will want to upgrade. But then again, that older camera still takes "good" pics, doesn't it?

It comes out to the same thing. Whether you do it now or later, you WILL upgrade unless you really don't care about better IQ and less noise. Why laugh at the people doing it now?

Of all the brand rivalries in all the markets (cameras, cars, clothes, etc), the Nikon vs Canon fanboys I find are the most ridiculous.

Shop around, find what you like. The most important thing is learning about your own equipment and knowing how to use it.

personally, i find the apple fanboys the worst of them all

So basically what your saying is if I give a 20D with a kit lens to a pro that has a MKIII with a "L" lens, the outcome of the IQ will be the same? BS

That Cliche makes my sick to the stomach when I hear it. Gear does matter in this Digital world Bigtime... If a cheesy filter can ruin your IQ why wouldn't gear do it?

That's not the point tho. A crap picture is still a crap picture even if taken with a Mk III and 'L' glass.

I agree. You can have a picture with the best IQ, but have bad composure, bad lighting, weak content, you name it. Its what in the pictures that count. Are you saying that all past cameras that didn't have L glass didnt take good pictures? Some of the lowest quality pictures can be the most moving and interesting. Its the mind behind the camera, not the technical specs of what you're shooting with.

00SILVERGT said it best: There are Photographers and there are gear collectorsBut the main problem is that for many people buying a camera is actually a sort of investmentand when we pay a lot we want a lot back, and people gets frustrated when we see that a manufacturer could have added a few features instead of holding back in order to insert them in an upper class model to justify the price differenceI think this applies on all equipments not just photo gear

hehehe I had a feeling some would agree and others not.

Thing is my impression was when Canon announced the 40D everyone seemed pretty happy. then Nikon announced the D3 and alot of folk were annoyed that the D3 had more specs.

Thing is it aint unusual to have better specs for more cash :)

Now atleast things seem to have calmed down alot which is cool.

Atleast it seems more people agree than disagree with the original post.

I cant take any credit though it was the original poster who deserves all the credit I just agree with them :)

what a stupid post. what do you expect people to talk about in a gear forum? i am not pissed that Nikon came out with the D300 and D3, i am excited. competition is a great thing and in the end, we are all going to win because now Canon will have to work harder. also, you ALWAYS have the option of simply not reading threads so if you do decide to read a canon vs. nikon thread, it is your choice and your fault.

and btw, the 2 cameras are in the exact same class even though one is a bit more expensive. just because one is on the upper end of the price bracket doesn't mean that it is not in the same bracket. it is up to the people to decide if the extra features are worth the extra money but that is a different matter.

lastly, you might want to give credit to the guy that actually wrote the post (just add his name or user name to the original post)

Maybe looking at who's posting here gives a slight clue.....

Most, but not all, of the people who agree with the post come from the UK or Australia....!

Maybe we aren't yet blessed with the concept of having to be the biggest and best at everything.

Bob

PS..funny, a reflex action made me duck when I wrote this.
