I am a new owner of a IXUS 500.
Can anyone help regarding memory for it. It came with a 32mb card and I am looking for a bigger capacity card, I have found on ebay the following:

Can anyone please advise or comment as it seems a little cheap.
Thanks for any help given :)

Go to 7dayshop.com, they are only £24.50 there!. Just bought an sd caard for my daughter and it was good service. Beware cheap cards though - I had a cheap 512mb card and it failed, so did its replacement. I paid a little more for a Lexar and it is reliable and reads/writes a lot faster

Panasonic TZ5 ;Canon IXUS 850; (Canon 400D, 17-85IS; 75-300; bag; filters and all that stuff given to my very clever daughter for passing her exams!)

Yes, don't get a cheap card

Had a cheap own brand 256MB from Crucial in a Ixus 400, approx 1 in 20 shots would be corrupt. Changed to a Kingston 256MB and all now fine

Apologies for another newbie type question.
What is the difference between a Secure Digital card and a normal card?

Thanks again

Secure Digital (SD) memory cards are a different type of memory card to Compact Flash (CF) cards so they won't fit or work in your IXUS 500.

As for Crucial, their cards might be competitively priced, but they're not cheaply made cards - Crucial are one of the largest memory manufacturers around. I have a 256MB Crucial CF card for my IXUS 400 and it works fine. No matter what manufacturer you choose, you will always get faulty examples from time to time.
