I bought the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 macro few months ago, but I haven't got a chance to try its macro capability. Last weekend, I went to Los Angeles County Natural History Museum with my local club. They also had a butterfly exhibition just outside the museum, so I made a good use of my macro lens.

Here are some of my favorite shots.

the third one is cool, the texture is really odd for a butterfly

I like the softness in the first shot.

I agree with you. The texture really stands out, but veyr ugly for a butterfly. :)

That one is my favorite among the favorites. :) I caught him/her with backlit by the sun.

It's beautiful. Most of the "bug" shots typically look more like a science study than art. The white butterfly is art.

Nice set. Shot three is a camberwell beauty, and the upperside is much prettier. It's a rare summer immigrant to the UK from northern Europe and has the UK's butterfly equivalents of twitchers chasing around after it when it appears. Many nymphalids like this one that overwinter as adults have dull undersides to avoid detection while hibernating.
