Mark III Battery Charger

The 1D Mark III comes with the LC-E4 charger. Optional to the normal AC cord is the Car Battery Cable CB-570. The spec for the input to the charger is 12v-24v. This cable is $40-$50!! It looks like a 12v adapter on one end with a figure-8 connector on the other end would work. Anyone tried this?

haven't tried it...but would certainly be interested to hear if it works out.

I gotta admit, it really really really bugs me that canon charges SO much for a cable...especially when the charger itself is $300+.
