Did you use only 1 flash, or you just pointed one in a different direction?

Both pointed directly at the subject -almost "head on" with the heads mounted on a Really Right Stuff flash bracket (but you could do the same with the Canon mount). Getting more separation between the flash heads and the lens, or shooting from a relatively high angle, can make reflections worse.

I find it difficult in most occasions to get the second flash head facing just the right angle so that the picture still gets some light that benefits in some way -- but without having it effect the eyes of the subject.

Sometimes you want the flash to reflect in the eyes...

Do you use any particular "ring" or bracket that helps in this way?

I use both the a Really Right Stuff flash bracket and the one that Canon supplies with the flash. The Canon mount will work in most situations though.

Sorry for all the questions... just need to convince myself that selling the MT-24EX and getting a 580EX II isn't the best option. :o

Cheers,

Geez you ask a lot of questions! ;)

Keep at it -the MT-24EX is the best flash for macro -but you have to learn to tame it...
