A group of amateur botanists started fishing around the pond after I got this one and prevented any more. I waited around for a while, and so did the dragonfly then we both got fed up and left.
Taken with Sony A100 75-300 zoom. C&C appreciated.

The Sony AF is quite quick but with such a small subject it can hunt right through the range before finding focus, by which time the dragonfly is gone, and it was shooting with manual focus that did the trick. I sort of cottoned onto that when Brian (Skylab) posted his two sets. Such a simple thing but it made all the difference as you can set your lens focus almost there, wait until it hovers nearby, a quick twist and you're onto it. I had two or three others that were almost there but got lucky with this one.
