I can get lightroom through my college for $99, and ps CS3 for $299! I've never even considered getting ps, always assumed I'd get lightroom, but for $299 it's tempting. In general, what are the functionality differences between the two?

Without this software my images suck quite badly. people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional

I think I'll just start with lightroom, I'll be in school for three years so I'll have the option on ps at anytime. I've been using the bundled Canon software (DPP) and getting decent images, so I imagine lightroom will be quite a step up. 5Dc - Sigmalux - Canon 100mm F2

Aug 31, 2007 13:53 | #6 I have both. For routine processing, I use Lightroom. I also like the way it organizes my pics. For photos requiring out of the ordinary work, or extensive creativity I use CS. I too get academic discounts and its great being able to afford both. I found out about LR on this forum and I really love it. For the first time since I got my DSLR, my photos are organized. Steve Novakovich
