The city that never sleeps. I can always find a place to get a cup of hot chocolate at 3 a.m. Love the city. Thanks for posting that, Pio.

Great shot and caption, as usual ! You have a great talent for making images come to life in any situation.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated. Indeed, NYC never does sleep, Someone is always awake here, it is as if people are keeping turns staying up so that someone keeps watch over the city. This shot was a couple of nights ago when I just walked and walked for a couple of hours, just soaking up the street life,. with my camera packed away in my messenger bag. Why? Because I didn't feel like shooting just yet. I allowed myself to be pushed into walking when a throng of people secreted from a just finished Broadway play. Later at one corner, I pretended to be waiting for someone, even pretending to make some calls on my phone so as to eavesdrop on an arguing couple. The exchange got a bit heated and attracted the attention of two cops who happened to stroll by. They separated the couple, calmed them down - it turned out that they were tourists and had a tiring day and the guy was being grumpy and the wife (I think) was pissed off at him for yelling... anyway the conflict was settled and the cop even flagged down a taxi for them.

Later I took out my camera and took several photos, and this was one of them. I was attracted by the 'body' in the poster, who seemed to be eavesdropping on the conversation much like I did earlier. "Bodies: The Exhibition" by the way is an ongoing exhibit that features real cadavers preserved by a high tech acetone/polymer process. I haven't seen it yet (cameras aren't allowed) but my wife has, and she said that I should go.

Anyway, back to the photo. The light was very poor, so I had to pump up the ISO on my 20D and shoot wide open at 24mm of my 24-70. PP was the usual desat, D&B, edges color burned. The result was laden with artifacts, and I ran it through Neat Image to get a smoothened photo.

Thanks for looking, all!

Nice shot.

I saw the Bodies exhibit. I took my daughter one day and my wife the next. It is amazing. A definite Must-see. It is expensive, but well worth it. It takes at least two hours to walk through.

I find myself going to "urban life" to see your photos. Much better than reading a NY newspaper. This is the real thing.
