Hi everyone I went looking for butterflies this morning did not see any but saw this Hawker. He was in the shade and I was on the limit for natural light shooting I tried flash but these dragonflies never look the same flash.
I am finding it tricky to get the colour temp right when raw processing with Canon zoombrowser. Wtith nice light the auto white balance setting normally looks great but with this shot it looks too cool is it possible to get a little bit of colour to the shot or should I persevere with flash when shooting in the shade :D
Which one of these looks the most natural and what colour temp value should I use ?
Thanks for your patience its the post processing thats a mystery to me
I normally do the same thing in zoombrowser raw conversion, AutoWB, contrast mid high and colour saturation high
Then in photoshop sometimes colour correction tool and always smart sharpen
First 3 shots ASA 800

Colour temp 4800 this is the one I prefer

Well Pete I think #1 is the better looking. #2 looks a bit to warm.
#3 is way to blue. #4 has a blue tinge to it as well.
Great capture by the way.

For cloudy conditions, shot 3 is the most realistic since you can get a bit of blue cast at such times, but shot 1 is the most pleasing although a bit oversaturated. It's all subjective anyway. Whatever looks good for you is what's most important.

Thanks guys
I could not seem to get something in betwween the first shot colour temp 4800 and the auto white balance setting but the first one is the best I will do it again with less saturation
But I was shooting in the shade under the trees so as you said Eccles it will turn out a bit blue.
