Hello everyone! I know it's been a long time since I've been on these boards, but between moving back to campus, classes starting up, and us being in the midst of a horrible heat wave (think 95* and humid all day), I really haven't had the chance to practice shooting.

So, imagine my surprise when I looked at my shots from today and found my new favorite shot of mine! I don't even really know why I like it so much, especially seeing as how it's a deviation from my normal type of shot. I think it's a combination of the colors, the sharpness, and the overall look of the shot. It's far from perfect, and I still need to do some fine-tuning PP on it (I normally only do large-scale PP on my normal shots, and then do extensive amounts of detail work on my favorites), but I can't stop looking at it. It's even my new desktop wallpaper, which is an accomplishment in and of itself.

So, here it is. I highly recommend you click on it to see the full 1680x1050 resolution version. What's really funny is that it's the first picture I took after not having touched the camera in over 3 weeks! Maybe I should take breaks more often...

2. A moth. Not a spectacular shot, but I think it really showcases the sharpness of the MPE when set to the correct aperture. Make sure you look at this one ful-res too:

3. Same moth, slightly different pose. I'm not sure which one I like best:

4. A close-up of a katydid (I think).

5. Another flower. I like the little stamen-dealies. They look like antennas to me:

6. Finally, a natural light, large-aperture shot. Taken with the MPE. I think I like it for the limited DOF. I think ;).

Thanks! It's because of the MPE that I'm very glad I chose Canon (the decision was pretty much arbitrary at the time, so I got lucky). It's just about the best lens a macro photog could ask for.

Not mad on the flowers (that's just me) but love the skipper butterfly shots and the cricket is rather nice too :)

Thanks Alby!

And thanks for the ID Brian. I thought it was a moth, but a butterfly sounds so much more impressive ;).
