In my search for the Mark IIn I talked to someone who offered me one for $1900. They have 100% feedback & I'd pay through PayPal. Sounds amazing, the body is $4k @ the local Wolf, what do you guys think?

a mkIIn with higher actuations and someone that needs the money could cost about that much. A mint condition used one on here goes for about 2500 or so.

I'd play it safe and not get one for that price.

the ID mkiiN before they were discontinued was as low as $3200 from reputable retailers. They were going used from $2200 to $2500 on the boards here. So the price isn't too far off.

Is it a EBay seller or local seller. Check their feedback here. If they have none, look at their EBay feedback and see if they have sold camera equiptment before.
But then again, if your gut says no, then don't do it.

It all started as a hobby with a Rebel XT & KIT lens. $5K worth of equipment & $0 of income later, all I have to show for it is a harddrive full of pictures and priceless memories!! Yeah it's still worth it :)

One option is to use a credit card as the funding for the paypal purchase. Then, if it is a scam and Paypal doesn't help you out, your CC company will. I always use a CC for funding for any purchase over $20 for that protection. I've had an instance where Paypal would not refund me for a fraudulent purchase but my CC did with no problem.

I went for a too good to be true deal once because it was listed on the Amazon website.

To make a long story short, I was required to wait 30 days to give the vendor fair time to make good on the purchase.

On day 31 I submitted my fraud claim and in maybe 2 days my monies were refunded. I used my debit card (with the visa logo) so I was afforded the same protection as a credit card purchase.
