I have one last flower hanging on to this stalk. I guess summer is almost over.

I had decided that the major problem is that it is rendered too dark, before I read your intro.
You might want to enable edits in your personal settings so that it can be edited & re-posted by the critics.

Using Image->Adjustments->Levels
adjusted white point and mid-range setting.
