Hello. Just took some pics tonight and thought I'd give HDR a try... would love
any and all comments/critiques. Thanks in advance.

Edit: JPG compression is apparent in the resize for POTN, here is the original 1000 pixel web image (external link)

Very nice! Needs more room at the front, & you can get rid of the halo around the car using this:

can you give more details ? How many different shots did you use ? Just one, but output differently from RAW ? What software did you use for the HDR ?

Just purchased PhotoMatix last night... the full version rather than the CS3 plug-in. Did the HDR merge and Tone Mapping in PhotoMatix, just played around with different settings then exported to CS3 as a TIF.

In CS3, just did simple color and brightness/contrast adjustments, sharpened and that's it.

I shot JPG for these, using my 1D MkIII set to Auto-Exposure Bracketing using 5 shots between -3 and +3. I've learned since that better effects can be had by shooting RAW, and so I'll do that going forward.

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

I can't tell it's HDR, and it seems to have nice exposure everywhere I look in the picture. So those two things together make for a perfect HDR image. Good job! :)

I actually thought you were a "VW" EOS fan when I first saw your post in this thread... funny I never put the two together till now.

But admittedly... not 100% guilt-free of anime-like HDR experiments.

The VW EOS is my friend's car, my car is the VW R32 below. I find black cars are easier to work with in HDR... blue and red is much more difficult.

The first photo is really good but, what I like about this second one is the background (go figure). It looks almost like a painting - quite lovely.
