I noticed today while out shooting that the rubbery coating on the lens is starting to peel off in some places. There are some places where about 1" of more are gone. Should I worry about this? Call sigma? Go out and buy the white snow camo tape i've been looking for and just wrap it up?

It happens.

The paint on my 24-70 is chipped here and there. It just shows that you actually use your gear instead of letting it sit in your bag for years on end.

I wouldn't worry about it one bit.

Eventually the outsides always show wear and tear. If your lens is still under warrantee then it would be worth contacting Sigma. Otherwise I wouldn't think about it. Lenses that have a little battle scarring on the outside look cool. Besides its the glass thats important.

mines like that too, pretty much all the paint from the zoom ring back to the lens mount is gone, but theres a nice brushed anodized black finish underneath - i would send mine in, but it would probably need it before it got back

Thanks guys. I dont think its under warranty, i bought it from a member on here 2 years ago. But now it does give me an excuse to get my white snow camo tape to cover the lens.
