Is there any way to batch resize a lot of images in Lightroom or Bridge? I also want to keep the aspect ratio correct for landscape and portrait shots. Is there a way to do this just once or will I have to do two separate resizes?

Do it in Photoshop. File -> Script -> Image processor. Or maybe File -> Automate -> Image Processor, can't remember. If you want max of 1000 pixels on the longest side just put 1000 in the two boxes near the middle of the screen.
