Looks like a butterfly to me. Can we see a colour version; it's probably pretty good.

Interesting idea, just don't think it quite works with this shot. Can't put my finger on why - lots of detail, just doesn't really 'zing'.

Just my opinion, and certainly not one you should worry about. :D

I need a B&W shot. I liked the detail, but didn't like the angle.

I've contemplated B/W insect macro but it just never seems to work with me. I think the amazing color spectrum of the tiny critters outweighs the subtle tones and interesting contrasts of black and white photography. Nice one though!

Yeah, you are probably right.

It does remind me of the old B&W film "The Fly" even though it is a butterfly head.

haha, I love everything about this shot! It totally reminds me of a classic Gary Larson Farside cartoon.

I think the B&W works particularly well for this shot, first because of the spiral / parallel lines playing off each other, but also makes the "hairs" look more like fur.

Although colors are impressive, this shot as BW lets a lot more go to the imagination.

This brought back memories and some laughs, thanks. It also made me like the B&W some.

Here is the uncropped original in color.

I think I've decided not to do anything with this image in B&W or color. It just doesnt' have enough interest due to the angle. Unless someone can convince me otherwise.

MP-E 65mm with twin light flash handheld. Probably 3.5:1 or greater.
