As a proud 5D owner, I need to ask the question......Why Did Canon feel the need to Make the 5D MK II when the original was almost perfect ( dust problem) why the new one?

Why not? Not too many pieces of technology out there that doesnt have a sequel or v.2. Cameras are no different.:D

I dont see the mkII to be an upgrade to the 5D as an improvement

Phew....still a rumour then, I am not gonna like this 5D mkII

If the 5d was a person, it I'll be Angelina Jolie covered in finest Belgian chocolate, Im happy with my 5d.

The 5d mkII will be Angelina Jolie covered in finest Belgian chocolate, which is being licked off by the pussycat dolls.........in a hot tub.

Sorry in advance for this very sexist post, lady photographers feel free to come up with your own fantasies..er I mean comparisons
Sorry to all our PC friends in America also, the english sense of humour can be quite dry and strange

When released the 5D Mk.II will have image quality surpassing the 1Ds Mk.III according to some people's logic. This is flawed.

Newer cameras are not always better or significantly better. The 300d ame out AFTER teh 1Ds MkI. What camera is better? The 5D is a great camera no doubt, but the Mk.II (if released) will not lessen the 5D.

Go shoot some pictures. :)

I always find interesting when people that like (I should say love) a specific camera model or brand, get worried because there could be a better or newer model coming soon.

Hmmm, a camera that doesn't exist is better than one that does.... ?

i love how u add this comment often to many posts. fact is, you absolutely correct about it! being a "tech" forum, we get bogged down with specs and such and we end up sittin on our pc's/macs all day instead of doing what we all love... shooting! at the end of the day just "go shoot some pictures" dammit! hahah

I am very guilty of it myself. I sit here typing out my photo clubs agenda and soem tech tips for tonight, wishing that my photo club was about everyone bringing their cameras and talking about photography.

Alas, it's about competitions, outings etc. and can get dry. We all need to add to the shutter count as much as possible!

Which brings me to... "If a camera is released, in the middle of the woods, where no one is there to buy it. Did it really exist ?"...

Think about that one !

(PS: No doubt the MkII will have improvements, but I am imagining along the margins of 30D vs 40D. Digic III, better processing speed, higher fps??... Maybe a 3" LCD, and improved focusing... Just speculating, but not expecting something ultra new there).

Technology advancing!?! Oh noes.

Be glad the 5D is as great as it is and enjoy it for what it is. If Canon can go ahead and make another leap like they did with the 5D I'm all for it. I for one don't mind improvement.
