Hello everyone! I have been reading this forum since I got my first Canon digicam, a G-3 over a year ago. You can see by my list of goodies that the disease has hit pretty hard  My question--while taking pictures with my 10D and new 100 to 400 L, I changed ASA from 100 to 800. When downloading my Delkin 640 Pro card, none of the photos after the change in ASA will open. And I can generally see them on the camera LCD screen, but sometimes the 02 (card error) happens and then I can't see them. Delkin gave me the name of a free recovery software (Smart recovery, apparently from Germany) and I tried running that, but it still stops at the same place, ie, none of the last 40 photos I took will download even though it has scanned the entire card. The photos are not so important that re-formatting the card bothers me, but I am leaving on a photo/camping trip in 10 days to Colorado high country and wonder if I have a problem that might recur. Have any of you had a similar occurance? Any ideas on how to proceed?? By the way, I feel I already know some of you from reading the forum for the last year and am really impressed how helpful so many of you are. Thanks!

Mark

Sounds like your card is bad... Changing ISO shouldn't cause problems. ?!

First of all, purchase a new CF card, format it, and use it as your primary memory card. If nothing else, then you can always use the extra memory.

Second, do a full re-format the failing card in the computer, and then put it back into the camera and do the quick format there.

If everything is good so far, then you should have one new card that you can count on, and one used card that may or may not be perfect.

Now, do some comparison tests, first on the new card and then on the used card. Try changing ISO in the camera and see if it has any effect on either one. It shouldn't.

In the awkward event that the used card starts to act up again, then be prepared to chuck it and minimize your losses.
